This entry is old but there will be more hopefully sometime this week, with pictures. X_X;;; Sorry for being a "failure" at times. xD;;
OKAY! Apudeeto (Update! XD)
Hey everybody!
I've been living in Silver Spring, MD (a block or two away from the DC border!) since May 31st and I'm beginning to love the eastern coast a lot. ^^ Every day is something new I encounter, living all on my own while my friends are all the way in the west coast *sniff* (;w;
Okay!
The flight on May 30th took about a day to get to DC OTL but I had a lot of fun drawing xD We (mum, dad and I) made a pit-stop at Denver onward DC, and had filet-o-fish, small fries and...chocolate therapy from Ben & Jerry's OTL I ate like a pig!?!? LOL And so we arrived in DC at 10pm and head to the hotel close to the airport. That's where I lost the little USB cover for my MP3. It was soooooo tiny but I guess it doesn't matter...*prays to have it send to heaven safely*
May 31st, there was no free breakfast (the hotel lied to us, poor mom ;;;;
We arrived at the apartment and the subleaser is very very nice. ^^ She showed us her apartment (cute and cozy!) and left to Philadelphia by car (it takes 2 hours to get there O_O;;; Usually it takes a day for us to get to California by car...Shocking indeed LOL). After we brought all our stuff in we went to take a walk around in downtown. That was it on May 31st. :3
Then comes June 1st: The internship. I dressed all Japanese-e LOL XD and I got to ride the metro on my own with no guidance lol. The metro reminded me of Vancouver's Skytrain. The design is similar but of brown-yellow-orange-y colors instead. I was so surprised I got to the Library of Congress about 20 minutes including switching to the next metro line, and that was around 8:15am (during rush hour)! Usually it takes 45 minutes from my house to the university by taking two transfers (bus and commuter train) even if it was a rush hour 8C I wish our transit system would be much faster like Vancouver and DC. ;_; So the first day...I got lost LOL XD Kind of but I DIDN''T KNOW HOW/WHERE TO GET IN LOL OTL So I went to the Adams Bldg and the police officer said "Do you work here?" I told them I'm an intern so they let me in through the security. xD I followed the signs to the desired room and in the room filled with interns some came super early some came super late (WAAAAAAY later than I did lol!) since they're new to town (very few actually live here and close to the DC border, and about 5 or 6 have been to the LoC O_O). The morning was to prepare the applications we had to finish up/do (unlike some people like me who hasn't finished all of the application papers because it was written in Engrish 8B). There were some refreshments and bagels and stuff. ;w; Yay food! So yeah went to the table with some other interns and... I started to see something strange...
The majority of them all brought their passports.
And I only brought my driver license and my ... health insurance ...
OTL
The lady came by and asked for my social security card. I told her I forgot to bring it and she said "You MUST bring your SS card in order to start interning here." I was in BIG trouble and called my parents to tell my aunt Mona to scan it and send it to my e-mail and have it ready by tomorrow. And yeah the lady was all "mm-hmm" and wide-eyed at me. ;_; I don't like to deal with HR people!?!?!?! So after that we "pledged alliegiance" to their oath, signed, and tada!
My cell phone...
OTL
so embarrassing...not used to it...wtfork OTL
SO YEAH after that we went to get fingerprinted. It was a long line. Had a chat with a few interns and this Jewish fellow...
"My dad used to work as a republican in the government in the 70s and now he's retired
......oh yeah.......the majority of those working within the government are Jews.........and no Muslims.....UNTIL NOW :C YEAH BABY!! :C :C :C YEAH YEAH UH-HUH! UH-HUH!! UH-HUH-UH-HUH-UH-HUUUUUUUUUH 8C We can DO IT!!!! *plans to become a senator...mentally!*
"I volunteered here since 2007
Neat! ^^
"This is my 2nd year of my Junior Fellowship Internship"
WTF??? YOU CAN DO TWICE??? OTL
Yeah, we didn't get the fingerprinted due to the hourly service in the little teeny tiny claustrophobic room, so the rest who didn't get the badge (like me >>....) got the badge. It was QUICK LOL XD Take a piccu, place it on the application thingy? and then PRINT and then STICK IT ON THE PROXY-CARD WTF OTL I thought it would take a week to get it. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!? You guys...are advanced...*amazed*...After the welcome thingy, I went ahead to meet with my parents and walked around the area until sunset, then went back to Silver Spring and had a lovely lamb sandwich from an Iranian "fast food" restaurant called Moby Dick (the lamb was the only one that serves Halal :c!!!!!! LAMBZY!). It was very cheap, but the meals were the size of a basketball.... *dead* o<-<
Lol that's it for the first 3 days I stayed, and there are so many to talk about. So please wait patiently hehe xD;;
