First off, my summer is going swell~ XD
I've been 60-70% wet from the 5-min monsoon (almost every time I reach to the apartment complex ROFL). I get tired most of the time. I stay up until 12am-2am every day and get up around 7-7:10am. Nothing biggie but it's such a pain in the butt when it comes to the slow commuting after the metro collision incident.
Lately this month I found out from my advisor there's a Japanese language held up at the Japan-America Society in DC (JASWDC). They have classes from 101 up to Japanese Language Proficiency Tests 1&2 to Business Conversation and newspaper reading. They have been serving their Japanese Language courses for over 45 years. I was impressed! Although their office closes at 5:30 in the afternoon (the time I finish work), my advisor suggested me to go over there during lunch hour. It took me 15-20 minutes to get to the destination (including walking). The location is not outside where you just go in and tada here you are. It's in the building complex with other societies and...yeah forgot the word in English haha.
Anyways I was thinking of taking either intermediate or advanced class. So I looked through the books: An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese 「中級の日本語」 and 中級から上級への日本語. Both are great, except the second one which I had a hard time dealing with. There were hardly any English word or two on there (only for grammar points...) and there were some kanji I couldn't even possibly read that easily. She suggested me to take the intermediate class part 2 (Japanese 302; upper intermediate although it said intermediate...lol). $185 total (w/ textbook and workbook) @w@ Not bad for 6 days. It's every Wednesday, though it is convenient for me. An hour and a half. ^0^ So right after work I went to have "dinner" at Borders (cheese & tomatoes, along with rasberry on scone and a cup of green tea~ *_*) and went to the front building. There was a lady and she wanted to get in lol. I asked if she's going to class.
Lady: Yeah
Me: What class are you going to?
Lady: Japanese 302
Me: ME TOO!
*lady ignores me completely*
;_; ... stupid Easterner ... (She's from Virginia orz)
I was kinda sad while entering the building. I entered the classroom and there were a couple of 6 or 8 students all together? The teacher came in and she spoke Japanese only. It wasn't too fast for me but every time at the end of the sentence she says it in a chipmunk way. I find that the hardest for meeeeee. How can you even HEAR the last few words of their sentence???? orz It's like almost mumbling to the end of the sentence WATASHI WA nihonn he ikutsumoridesukedOOOO (The letters that are close together is the mumbling part. This is just an example, although I can understand that part when she mumbles, but...yeah orz)
I can never get the last parts...never...orz|||||| FAIL
Anyways she asked us to do a little introduction. My heart just stopped a bit (verbally not literally rofl xD). I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of everyone with my crappy Japanese. I heard other's introductions:
"Hi my name is ______ and I've been to Japan"
"Hi my name is ______ and I've been on a JET program"
"Hi my name is ______ and I've studied in Japan"
Every single one in the classroom has been to Japan... orz|||||| 恥ずかしかった・・・・・・・・・・・・・ So it was my turn. I opened my mouth...(the dots meaning silent moment)
はじめまして!(name)と申します。(しゅしん?忘れた・・・forgot what I said in class orz)はイラクです。ユターから来ました。あのう、8月までDCでLibrary of Congressのインターンシップをしています。*
*too tired to type roomaji lol*
Holy freakin' where did that come from!? I nearly DIED telling my retarted intro, besides my intro was kind of lopsided lol. I forgot to tell them I'm going to apply for JET program and that I draw manga/animu. ;_; But I've never spoken that long since...high school LOL. Oh well~ The class was all good. :3 I loved it! I could tell I've improved my listening comprehension very well. ;x; And now I'm learning new grammar list that might be useful for JLPT2 (I heard this book is great for taking JLPT2. So many vocabs~ ;w
My homework, the whole chapter in the workbook by Wednesday x_X ♥ I miss studying Japanese hardcore rofl~~~

I'm cool with it! I was thinking at the artist alley since it's pretty much easier for me to meet up with my peeps. :3 Or do you want at the entrance of the con?
And Artist Alley is fine. I've found that it's easier to find people there than other areas, too. Haha.
